Joanna Meinl
Autobiography
Joanna Meinl began her dance training in Miami, Fl studying ballet, jazz and hip-hop. She then went to New York University where she studied anthropology and world dance. Upon moving to the West Coast,
Joanna began studying the enthralling art of Kathak, North Indian classical dance, with Pandit Chitresh Das at San Francisco State University. In 1999 she earned a B.A. in Dance Ethnology.
She has been a performing member of the Chitresh Das Dance Company (CDDC) for seven years now and has toured both nationally and internationally, including two trips to India, with the company.
She is an integral part of the Chhandam teaching staff, the official school of CDDC, and head of the Union City branch. An active participant in community arts education she has taught Kathak for all levels.
She has also taught ballet, modern and creative movement for many youth programs and schools throughout the Bay Area. In addition, Joanna teaches and performs Ballroom and Latin dance at Dance Arts Studios in San Rafael,
specializing in Salsa and Swing dance.

Sangre Latina
Dance Company
Sangre Latina, founded in 2004, is the first
adult salsa troupe in Sonoma County.
Sangre Latina has performed at various
venues including the Caesar Chavez Health
Fair, fund-raisers
for CASA organization, WISE (Women's
Initiative for Self Employment), Roseland
Children's Health Clinic, The Community Child
Care Council of Sonoma County, as well as
many others. This is a great inspiration and
motivation for many of our dancers. JAS
DANCE Productions is dedicated to
participating in community events that
benefit and fund valuable programs in Sonoma
County and the Bay Area. We have travel and
performed in many out of state venues such
as, Puerto Rico, NY City, Dallas, Chicago,
Miami and many more.
