Shohan was born in Hawaii then moved to San Francisco with his family. After living in San Francisco for two years he moved to Sonoma County where his parents home schooled him. By the age of 8 he enrolled in a Martial Art called Kuk Sool Won inwhich he has practiced ever since. After about 7 years he was unable to attend Martial Art lessons, though despite the fact that he no longer had a teacher he continued to train himself at home. By the age of 16 he developed an interest in acting, then began to take classes at the local Junior College as well as community performances. During this time he also perused his interest in music and started taking singing lessons. Over the course of about two years he worked to develop my acting abilities as well as his skills as a musician.
By the age of 17 he had graduated High School and since he had graduated a year early there wasn't much for a seventeen-year-old kid to do in Sonoma County. The way he met Jose Santamaria was by total chance. He was at home when he got a phone call at 9:00pm from a friend that told him that there was swing dancing for teens at a local dance hall right in Sonoma county. After getting directions he drove down to see if there was anything actually interesting going on or just another high school dance. After about an hour the owners of the hall had some of the local dance teachers perform demonstrations to promote their classes. Jose was one of those teachers. A week later he was doing some shopping at the local mall when Jose walks up to him, introduces himself and asks him to join his salsa dance troupe called Salsa Fresca. Now is he is also on the JAS Dance Training Team.
